Basketball

Target: Tue 8 Dec 2026 to Mon 14 Dec 2026

Basketball joins Puntr two weeks after launch. It's a fast-growing sport in South Africa, and most fans here follow the NBA closely.

In South Africa

South African interest in basketball has grown through school and university leagues, the Basketball National League and the continent-wide Basketball Africa League. The NBA is the most-followed competition, with late-night and early-morning games that suit pre-match picks.

How Puntr will cover it

Basketball scores are high and margins matter, so Puntr's engine will model points totals and winning margins as well as the winner. The Algorithmic Read will weigh pace, recent form and rest days, and each pick is graded from the official final score.

When it goes live

Basketball is planned for week 2 after launch (Puntr launches on Tue 1 Dec 2026). A sport only switches on once its fixture data and automatic grading are working, so the date can move. The roadmap always shows the current status.
